Welcome to the Gandy Bagpiping Foundation

What began as a hope and a small society to create positive opportunities for learners has—through the generosity of many— become a Foundation that has truly made progress in fulfilling its vision. At this website, we hope to bring to your attention a number of events that will raise funds for the Foundation, and help us to continue the work that we have started. As well, the website will provide ways for you to help the Foundation directly, by donating, volunteering, or just by sending us your ideas and encouragement.

The past few years we have raised enough money to provide scholarships to deserving piping students from various parts of North America. Thanks to the contributions you have made, pipers are getting the tuition and experiences they need to develop their piping.

Sometimes, this means getting extra tuition, or attending a summer camp, and sometimes it's about being able to attend a big competition that will develop a player's understanding and ability in that forum.

One of our first projects was the production of Front Row Seat, a CD of notable piobaireachd performances by Bruce Gandy. The CD captures live competition performances of some of his biggest moments in piping, and the liner notes tell the story of the day, the tune sources and inspirations. Sales of the CD help support the work of the Foundation, and we'd love for you to purchase it if you haven't already.
